Sign the Petition to Stop the Council Pay Raise!

While Harford residents are still struggling to come to grips with huge increases in their water bill…

…Harford County Councilman Capt’n Jim McMahan decided to introduce legislation that will rob Harford taxpayers of even more of their hard-earned cash.

And what important county government “need” will require you to live on less of what you earn?

Why it’s huge tax-payer funded raises for the entire Harford County Council!

Click here to prevent Harford politicians from taking money out of your pocket and inserting it into theirs.

That’s right, McMahan recently introduced Bill No. 16-023 which seeks to give the Council President a $6,690.00 per year pay raise…

…and give each of the other Councilmembers a $6,750.00 per year increase!

This would be a staggering near 20% increase for these politicians.

This amounts to a total of $47,190.00 in additional county government spending to directly line the pockets of politicians.

While McMahan loves being known as “Capt’n” around Harford County, this proposed legislation outs him for what he really is –  an elected pirate.

Click here to say “NO!” to this outlandish waste of your tax dollars.

It’s hard to believe that at a time when many Harford residents are just hoping to keep their jobs – let alone get a raise…

…that any politician would have the gall to award themselves such a massive increase.

When raises are available, most hard-working employees anticipate getting one based on performance reviews from their employer.

And who employs the politicians?

That’s right, WE THE PEOPLE do. They work for us.

Sometimes they need to be reminded of this.

Just weeks ago, the citizens of Cecil County denied their County Council a $2000.00 per year raise.

They did it by showing massive opposition to proposed pay raises for politicians by adding their name to a well-circulated petition drive.

This is exactly what we must do here in Harford County.

Please take a moment of your time to sign the petition to oppose taxpayer-funded pay raises for Harford Politicians by clicking here.

If we act now, this will be a slam dunk in the fight to protect our tax dollars.

A public hearing on this legislation is set for October 11th, 2016.

By signing our petition, you can make sure that our county council hears from you directly.

Harford County Campaign for Liberty will deliver all signed petitions to the council during this hearing.

Volume will make THE difference! The bigger the stack of petitions, the more pressure the county council will feel to do the right thing and vote no on this legislation.Councilman McMahan told The Aegis that “Some in the public will not like the legislation.”Let’s make sure that he realizes that he thoroughly underestimated the public’s opposition to this legislation.

All it takes is your signing of the petition.

Please help us get the word out to as many Harford residents as possible by sharing this email with friends and family.

As always, thank you for your support!

Sign the Petition to Cut Water Bills Back!

Harford County politicians gave themselves a big pat on the back for repealing the Rain Tax…

…but later voted unanimously to give us higher water bills!

This bait and switch behavior of local politicians who posture as fiscal conservatives then raise water bills is unacceptable.

The average Harford County family depending upon its local government for water and sewer services was paying roughly $135 every three months.

But this June, the average quarterly bill increased by $42, or about $177 a year.

Friends, that’s an annual increase of 31.2%.

This may seem minuscule to our local lawmakers. For families already struggling to make ends meet, or retirees on a fixed budget, however, this is a painful blow.

But it gets worse.

Your all-Republican County Council not only passed one rate hike, they passed 5 YEARS OF CONSECUTIVE HIKES.

In fiscal year 2017, expect your bill to shoot up another $15 a quarter, and a whopping $43 a quarter in FY 2018.

By the time all the increases are in effect, you’ll be paying an estimated $252 a quarter. That’s over a thousand dollars a year, for a vital service you can’t shop.

By FY 2020, your water and sewer bill will have gone up over 86%, and the Harford County government will have collected an additional $23 million from hardworking taxpayers.

Not even the liberal bastion Baltimore City passes these types of increases – the city’s new water rates are increasing just 33% over three years.

Your elected officials ran on a promise of fiscally responsible principles, including keeping Harford County taxes low and affordable, and eliminating the Rain Tax.

Now, instead of looking for ways to lower our local costs, they’ve chosen the Martin O’Malley Method –

Raise unavoidable “fees” and hope the voters are too busy to notice.

Please, join us in telling these politicians that we’ve noticed, and we’re angry.

Sign the Petition by clicking on the banner below, and share this message with your fellow Harford County residents.

With your support, we can pressure county politicians to spare us the water bill abuse and cut wasteful government spending instead.

Each of these elected officials ran on a promise to represent YOU in Harford County with conservative and fiscally responsible principles.

Sign the petition, and demand that they live up to that promise. Demand these water bill increases be immediately repealed

P.S. Will you chip in $10, $25, $50 or $100 today to help us reach and mobilize the citizens of Harford County?

The federal government has been enticing local law enforcement with military style toys and surveillance equipment.  Does Harford County really need a Bearcat? What about portable observation towers with face recognition capabilities?  Why does Maryland activate a SWAT team an average of 10 times PER DAY?  Did you know any of this?  Want to know more? Dan Galluzzo, former NSA employee, will present an overview of this topic and discuss the successes other states and counties have had in preventing the militarization of local police.

War of 1812 Pro-Gun Rally in Havre De Grace

1812 flyer copy

Join fellow citizens in support of the 2nd amendment at the Concord Point Lighthouse (700 Concord St) in Havre De Grace, MD 21078 on Saturday May 4th, 2012 from 4pm-7:30pm.

Gov. Martin O’Malley will be in attendance for the War of 1812 celebration, let him know that his gun grab will not be tolerated. If he was governor during the War of 1812 his legislation would have successfully disarmed citizens, and thus the militia, which would have allowed the British free reign of the Maryland region.
